Short Version: Before going on a hike make sure you are in good physical shape, know where you are going, and that others know where you are going. Bring the needed gear and clothing. Don’t be stupid. Have fun.

The information in this site is believed to be true. Some of the information is also opinion. Some hikes and adventures are provided to this Web site by others not affiliated with the site. With any trip you should consult more than one resource before embarking. Guide books, Ranger stations, the National Park Service, and locals are good resources. Make sure the trail you intend to hike is open and you have all the permits required.
Hiking can be dangerous. Bring outdoor first-aid kits with you and make sure you are skilled in outdoor first-aid. Make sure you are in good health before hiking or embarking on any adventure. Prepare for the worst - even if you’ve been hiking for years without an accident or emergency. Bring clothes for any possible weather condition and a way to communicate with the world off the trail, but remember that cell phones often don’t work away from population areas.
